The submodule was an empty uninitialized reference inherited from hyperident's Jan 2026 initial commit. Never populated, never used. Presence was causing BUILD_SKEW: npm's --install-links copied the empty dir inconsistently across consumers (pgh had it, pgh-hello didn't), producing different tree hashes for the "same" hyperident 0.2.0 source.
