docs: README
Upstream has no public README to base one on — teamcsharp's entire GitHub presence is two version-check stubs ("Repo used for version checking"), so this is written from blender_manifest.toml, the manual URL referenced in the menu code, and the fork's own patch set. Leads with the fork banner: this exists to make 26.1.3 run on Blender 5.2, it is not a feature fork, and Hard Ops should still be bought from its authors. Also gives the forge landing page something to render — a repo with no README shows an empty body there, which reads as "the repo has no files". Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

# Hard Ops 26' — Blender 5.2 fork

> **This is a fork of Hard Ops made to get it working on Blender 5.2.**
> Upstream 26.1.3 crashes on 5.2: Blender moved geometry nodes modifier inputs
> off IDProperties, so every boolean, the auto-smooth path, radial array, thread
> and the helper panels raise
> `TypeError: this type doesn't support IDProperties`. This fork fixes that and
> nothing else — it is not a feature fork, and it tracks upstream releases.
>
> Vendor baseline: **26.1.3**. See [FORK.md](FORK.md) for what is patched, how
> vendor drops are merged, and how to update.

Hard Ops is a hard-surface modelling addon for Blender — a menu-and-hotkey layer
over booleans, bevels, mirroring, arrays, sharpening and mesh cleanup, built for
non-destructive workflows on top of the modifier stack.

## What this fork changes

One commit on top of the pristine vendor tree. In short:

- Adds `utility/geometry_nodes/compat.py`, which bridges the pre-5.2
IDProperty input storage and the 5.2 typed-RNA storage
(`modifier.properties.inputs.<id>.value`) behind one dict-like view, chosen by
feature detection — so 4.2 through 5.2 all work from the same call sites.
- Ports every modifier-input access onto it: the boolean and smooth-by-angle
wrappers, radial array, to-thread, ever-scroll, and the bevel/helper panels.
- Maps the boolean Operation and Solver menu sockets, which 5.2 stores as enum
identifiers rather than integer indices.
- Fixes a **hard crash**: the helper panel passed a socket *name* to
`object.geometry_nodes_input_attribute_toggle`, which resolves inputs by
*identifier*. Silently did nothing on 5.0/5.1; segfaults Blender on 5.2.

`git diff <vendor-commit>..HEAD` is always the exact patch set.

## Install

```bash
git clone https://7rnx.net/git/hardops.git \
~/.config/blender/<version>/extensions/user_default/hardops
```

Restart Blender and enable it in Preferences → Add-ons. The clone *is* the
extension directory, so updates are a `git pull` and a restart.

## Update

Three remotes serve the same repo — use whichever is reachable:

```bash
git pull p2p main # punch:// over Hyperswarm, falls back to HTTPS
git pull web main # https://7rnx.net/git/hardops.git
git pull forge main # local bare repo
```

## Verifying a change

Two headless regression scripts ship in the repo and cover the 5.2 work:

```bash
blender --background --python test_bool.py
blender --background --python test_rest.py
```

## Legal

Hard Ops is a commercial addon licensed GPL-3.0-or-later, which is what permits
this fork to be redistributed. That does not make it free of charge — if you use
it, buy it from the authors.
