Most apps live on a company’s servers. If that company blocks you, goes down, or changes the rules, you’re stuck.

Peer-to-peer (P2P) apps try something else: your phone and laptop talk more directly,
and you hold your data (with crypto keys), not a giant central database.

But pure P2P has a silly-sounding problem: when everyone goes to sleep, the app disappears.

This project builds always-on helper computers (“relays”) that keep apps online —
without needing those helpers to own or (for private stuff) read your content.
On top of that, we’re shipping real apps — especially Peerit, a Reddit-like social app.

        Kitchen analogy
Your recipe book is the app. Your friends’ kitchens are other users.
A relay is a 24/7 community fridge that can hold a copy of the public cookbook —
or a locked box only you have the key for — so dinner still happens when you’re out.

One company runs the servers, the login, the feed, the ban hammer.

Why this scales to “many apps”

No per-app daemon code — supporting a new app is a client change, not a fleet upgrade.

No semantic indexes on the relay — posts, shops, tickets stay inside ciphertext.

Quotas & admission — each relay sells capacity (bytes, ops), not “Peerit seats.”

Horizontal growth — add more relay operators; clients pick several for copies (G2-S multi-replica).

Peerit is customer #1, not the protocol owner — two fixture apps prove the substrate isn’t Peerit-shaped.

Trust scales with signatures — verifying a receipt does not get slower just because the planet has more relays.

Per-node costs stay bounded — storage caps, eviction, rate limits, AutoHeal proof budgets.

Direct P2P first — relays are the always-on backup path, not a forced middlebox for every byte.

Year-1 ambition (planning, not promise) — ecosystem report sketches thousands of operators via home nodes + Lightning funnel; bootstrap starts from founder fleet + appliances.
